"My work originates from a deep fascination with storytelling: film, scenery, comics as well as visual fantasy and science fiction. Although I graduated as sculptor, at the moment I mostly make graphite drawings that portray figurative scenes filled with theatrical storytelling elements and tropes. Basing myself of photo material
I gradually buildup a drawing and let it define and redefine itself along the creative process. I choose to work with graphite for the same reasons I work with clay, stone and wood: because they are ancient materials with stories of their own to tell." - Xander Faes, 2020
