This painting takes as a reference the phrase of Jesus during his crucifixion "Father, forgive them because they do not know what they are doing." Taken from the animistic point of view, the rabbit says "Mother don't forgive them because they know exactly what they are doing." implying the idea that the sacrifice of Nature has been thought out and validated; and highlighting the fact that humans always pretend to be surprised at the consequences of their actions, or even to deny them.
In the bible, the place of the crucifixion is at a place called Skull. This is why an (animal) skull appears saying the phrase "y u do dis tho", a famous replica of the Dolan meme, highlighting human responsibility. This is the base of a column of skulls inducing the idea of the mass grave, and the multiple and profound consequences for which humans are responsible.
